2013/14 Barclays Premier League Fixtures

Jose Mourinho and David Moyes will go head-to-head in a stiff test for the new managers of Chelsea and Manchester United in just the second game of the season as the 2013/14 fixture list was announced.

The new season begins on August 17 and is one of the most keenly-anticipated for many years, with huge change amongst the top teams. Manchester United's opening game will be away at Swansea and the first since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement.

Mourinho has made an emotional return to Chelsea, six years after he left Stamford Bridge - and starts with a home game against Hull City. The two then face off at Old Trafford a week later in one of the mouthwatering early season matches.

Australia claim win to book their place in Brazil

Australia left it late but beat Iraq 1-0 to become the second country to qualify for the 2014 World Cup finals in front of 80,000 rain-soaked but euphoric fans at Sydney's Olympic Stadium on Tuesday.

Six minutes after coming on as a substitute for Tim Cahill, Kennedy rose alone in the centre of the penalty box to head Mark Bresciano's cross past the despairing dive of Iraq goalkeeper Noor Sabri and into the net.

The stadium erupted and Kennedy was mobbed by his team mates as they celebrated the goal that looked like it would secure the win they needed to seal second place in Asian qualifying Group B and the ticket to Brazil that went with it. The Australians, frustrated for much of the evening by their own lack of penetration as much as the Iraqis, will now make their third successive trip to football’s showpiece tournament and a fourth in total after 1974, 2006 and 2010.
