Davies out for six months

Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies will be out for six months after rupturing his Achilles tendon in Saturday's draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The 22-year-old, who was named in Fabio Capello's first England squad, had surgery on Saturday night.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill told the club's official website: "Curtis has ruptured his Achilles tendon and he's going to have an operation. We're really disappointed for him.

"He's been doing really well and that's a sickener. But he'll be back. He misses the rest of the season and it's really cruel because he's been doing splendidly. It would have been nice to have won the game for him."
Davies is on loan from West Bromwich Albion but the injury is unlikely to affect the £9 million permanent transfer that has been arranged.
